PHILADELPHIA GAS WORKS Announces Natural Gas Cost Decrease This Quarter

(Philadelphia, Pa. – December 1, 2016) – Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) today announced that this quarter’s gas cost rate will decrease for residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customers. For the next three months, the rate for typical residential customers, for instance, will be lowered to $1.211 per hundred cubic feet (Ccf) from $1.236 per Ccf. The new rate reflects what PGW pays for the gas.

On an annualized basis, the average residential customer using 810 Ccf of natural gas, will now pay $21.99 less per year, however this rate is readjusted quarterly.

PGW reviews its gas cost rate quarterly and determines, based on market conditions, whether it should change. The new rate, beginning December 1, 2016, will stay in effect through February 28, 2017. PGW’s residential natural gas rates are made up of two main components: a supply charge and delivery charge:

(Philadelphia, Pa. – November 16, 2016) – Beginning on November 14, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is partnering with Enroll America and Cognosante to engage local communities with high percentages of uninsured residents. For the second year, PGW’s six Customer Service Centers will host trained advisors and assisters from Enroll America and Cognosante who can help consumers sign up for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Trained staff are provided, locally, by PHMC and Cognosante.

Health care advisors and assistors will be on hand at PGW Customer Service Centers according to the following schedule, through January 31:

“This is another tangible way that PGW can support the City we work for,” notes Melanie McCottry, director of public affairs. “We are looking forward to working with Enroll America, and hosting its health care advisors. PGW encourages all eligible residents, not just our customers, to take advantage of this opportunity.”

“This unique partnership between PGW, Enroll America and Cognosante provides an innovative way to reach Philadelphians who can benefit from securing affordable health insurance,” said U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Regional Director Joanne Grossi. “Consumers will receive valuable information about the Health Insurance Marketplace from a familiar source and will be able to get personal one on one enrollment assistance at various PGW locations around town.”

During this year’s open enrollment period, Enroll America is also unveiling an improved version of its ‘Get Covered Connector’, an online tool that allows consumers to schedule a free in-person appointment to get help enrolling in health coverage. Enroll America’s studies shows that consumers who meet with a navigator are 60% more likely to successfully enroll. Consumers receive email and text message notifications to remind them of their appointment. The upgraded tool is available athttp://www.getcoveredamerica.org/connector

PGW will also provide enrollment information on social media and in bill inserts sent to roughly 500,000 customers. Information on health coverage options is also available at HealthCare.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596
