School’s Back In Session

For the fifth year in a row, PGW employees dug deep in August to support local kids preparing for the new school year.

This time, our colleagues focused their Back-to-School drive on helping students at the R.W. Brown Community Center. This school is a valued neighbor of ours (literally… it’s next door) and has been serving Philadelphia children and strengthening area families for more than 75 years. Locals just call it ‘The R,’ and its Early Learning Center provides full-day, full-year preschool programming for children from 1 to 5 years old. Programming includes swimming lessons, arts & crafts, computer technology, music appreciation, educational trips and theater classes. Students also enjoy breakfast, lunch and two snacks per day.

PGW’s committed employees placed colorful barrels throughout the company to collect the kinds of supplies that every student needs, but not every family can afford.

From backpacks to glue-sticks, and everything in between, the drive collected enough to provide school supplies to over 40 children as they returned to school. The PGW team that organized the collection delivered the supplies of pens, notebooks and more to the center and report that they were met with smiles and delight by students and staff.

Every day, PGW employees go above and beyond in their community and we are glad to showcase their good work here, as we can. In this case, the Back-to-School drive was organized by a group within PGW called ‘Ignited Towards Success’ (I.T.S.) whose mission is to empower PGW employees in their pursuit of personal and business development, recognition and prosperity.
