Let’s Make A Difference
Posted on: Feb 20, 2014Engineering. It takes team work, is an exciting profession, and an outlet for imagination.
Engineers. They’re focused on efficiency, problem solving, and making a difference.
We at PGW have an affinity for engineers and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), and this week, we’re joining in the celebration of National Engineers Week by highlighting some of our own engineers.Engineers do so much for society – from saving lives and protecting the environment to ensuring commodities like natural gas are safely delivered to homes and businesses. At PGW, our engineers work on complex assignments that allow for the introduction of new technology and maintenance and improvements to our 6,000-mile distribution system.
• Have you had gas service turned on in your home? An engineer was behind the turn on.
• Have reservations at one of Philly’s newest restaurants? An engineer was a part of ensuring gas lines were installed in time for the grand opening.
• Needed gas heat to warm your home this season? An engineer made sure gas reserves were available for high-demand days.
Those are just some of the responsibilities of PGW engineers. As if that wasn’t enough, our engineers like to share their love for engineering and help young minds discover engineering by participating in events such as Philadelphia’s George Washington Carver Science Fair.
