It’s Memorial Day Weekend … Make Sure It’s a Safe One
Posted on: May 22, 2014Well, here it is … Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer. You didn’t think it would ever come, did you? Now that it’s finally here, let’s all make the best of it.
Whether you’re heading down to the Jersey Shore, hiking it up to the Poconos, or staying local to enjoy barbecues and parades, we want you to do it safely. Here are some quick tips to keep in mind as you cook up burgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob all summer long:
1. Use your nose. Natural gas has a rotten egg-like odor. If you think you smell natural gas, leave the area immediately then call us at (215) 235-1212.
2. Call 8-1-1 before you dig – It’s the law. This free service ensures underground utility lines are marked, preventing damage to service lines and keeping you and your property safe.
3. Report suspected gas theft. The theft of gas is dangerous and should be reported immediately by calling (215) 684-6383. Your call is confidential.
