Happy National #OOTD Day!

Happy National #OOTD day! At Philadelphia Gas Works, we take street fashion pretty seriously. Our crews on the street may look runway ready, but each piece of the uniform serves a very important purpose – safety. To keep safe at the worksite, crews must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Check out our #OOTD below:

Our crews can be seen wearing a 100 percent flame-resistant long sleeve button up shirt in our signature blue shade paired with jeans, which are durable and help protect our crew members’ skin from both the elements and debris.

Construction crews are exposed to many different hazards on a worksite, which is why safety gear is of the utmost importance. Plus, no outfit is complete without accessories – in this case, a hard hat, a pair of gloves, sturdy boots and safety glasses!

PGW hard hats are an outfit staple; they protect our crews from head injuries, which have the potential to be life-threatening. Hard hats should be inspected before every use to ensure they’re in tip-top shape.

Safety gloves are a necessary component of the uniform: over 1,000,000 construction workers in the United States visit the ER a year due to hand injuries; 70% of these injuries were sustained by individuals not wearing gloves and 30% wearing ill-fitting gloves.

You can never go wrong with a heavy duty pair of steel-tip work boots when working with heavy equipment! Steel-tip work boots protect the wearer’s feet against injuries, punctures as well as slips and trips.

The uniform is completed with a pair of on-trend, clear safety glasses. Safety glasses protect the eyes of our crews from dust and projectiles while still allowing them to see clearly.

Each piece of Personal Protective Equipment that our crews wear is important; it keeps them safe, so that we can keep you safe -- and safety never goes out of style!
