Happy 179th Birthday, PGW

On February 8, 1836, 46 natural gas lamps along Philadelphia’s 2nd Street were lit for the first time by employees of the newly formed Gas Works. Today, nearly two centuries later, we maintain 6,000 miles of underground pipes and provide the safe, reliable delivery of 78 billion cubic feet of natural gas, annually, to Philadelphia homes and businesses.
